The Agricultural Biotechnology Council (abc), comprising of four member companies, works with the food chain and research community to invest in a broad range of crop technologies – including conventional and advanced breeding techniques, such as GM. These are designed to promote the sustainable intensification of agriculture by tackling challenges such as pests, diseases and changing climatic conditions, whilst reducing water usage, greenhouse gas emissions and other inputs.
The member companies are BASF, Bayer, Corteva and Syngenta. Our goal is to provide factual information and education about the agricultural use of GM technology in the UK, based on respect for public interest, opinions and concerns. ABC welcomes the rebranding of the Crop Protection Association to become CropLife UK. CropLife UK will expand their scope to cover a wider range of technologies and innovations. In addition to Plant Protection Products (PPPs), they will also cover biopesticides, plant biotechnology and digital and precision agriculture. We welcome the growth of our industry and how this can benefit our own members. Innovation in agri-tech has a fundamental role to play in meeting one of the great challenges of our time, helping farmers grow healthy, affordable and sustainable food whilst responding to the challenges of climate change and delivering benefits to the environment.
