BOFIN calls on farmers to join Defra funded innovation projects Image

BOFIN's latest campaign ‘Lead the Field’ is calling on farmers to join its four Defra-funded projects and help shape the future of UK agriculture.

The British On-Farm Innovation Network's (BOFIN) four projects include becoming a Pulse Pioneer; Slug Sleuth; Root Ranger; or Probity Pioneer. In these roles you will:

  • Pulse Pioneer – increase pulse and legume cropping in arable rotations across the UK and help reduce the need for important soya in livestock feed.
  • Slug Sleuth – help develop new technologies for slug control.
  • Root Ranger – inform SSM practices and evaluate novel genetics and bioproducts.
  • Probity Pioneer – trial crop varieties created through TILLING, with the opportunity to move on to lines developed through gene editing in subsequent years.

For any interested growers, BOFIN is hosting a free webinar at 8:30 AM on Wednesday, 16 July, where they will introduce BOFIN and the projects.
